Available Rats
If you are interested in adopting any of these rats, please email us at simone@littlemischiefrescue.org

We are asking for a minimum donation of $10/rat.
Please note: We don't adopt out single rats unless they go to a home that already has rats. Only in very rare circumstances do we get a rat in that hates other rats even after a neuter or spay. Most rats are extremely social animals and need the companionship that other rats provide.

Bibi & Dot
Bibi and Dot are two wonderful black hooded rats.
Bibi is the mom and Dot is her daughter. Dot was born in August 2006 and Bibi shortly before that.
The two have been in rescue for a long time (1 year!!!) waiting for their forever home and we just can't understand why they get overlooked time and time again as they are really sweet girls. Our only guess is that it's because the two look quite similar at first and from our experience adopters tend to go for pairs/trios where the rats all look a bit different which makes them easier to tell apart. Even though they might look the same at first glance, rest assured that is not the case at all! Besides the fact that they have different markings on their backs and tails, all rats have quite distinguished personalities and so after a few days you'll be quickly able to tell them apart.
The foster mom calls Bibi and Dot her little Border Collies just because they have similar high energy like that breed of dog. They are always running around exploring, looking for the next adventure. The two are really smart and so will need a family who is willing to entertain them but also keep a close eye on them when they are out and about as these girls are very athletic and can get to places other rats haven't been able to go.
The two girls also have the funniest quirk - Every once in a while they go through a phase where they think their tails are their babies: When they are outside of their igloo running around and all of the sudden see their tails, they think that their babies got out of the nest and so they keep circling until they manage to grab their tails. While holding their tail in their mouths they carefullly move the tail aka "the baby" back into the igloo. Of course as they step outside of the igloo, their tail aka "baby" comes back out again and so they have to do it over and over again which is great fun to see! Sometimes they also discover the other's tail and so they end up dragging the other rat back into the igloo by their tail. They must do his very gentle as none of them ever squeek.
The two girls are well socialized and don't mind being picked up. They aren't big into snuggling though, they think there's more important things in life to see and explore.

Alvin, Archie, Bart & Beavis
The four HUGE boys are now in rescue and are doing well! Alvin is an agouti hooded, Archie is a black berk, Bart is a champagne boy (pale warm pinky beige with dark ruby eyes) and Beavis is a beautiful black hooded rat.
They are all quite curious and come to the door to see what you're up to but they aren't quite sure yet about being picked up. After their 3 weeks in a quarantine foster they are now in their actual foster home where they'll learn that people are fun to be around with.
Alvin quickly found a new love in his foster home - A comfort wheel. He spends lots of time running in it so his new home should provide him with one since he really enjoys it.
Some videos of the boys:
Alvin running in his wheel
Beavis grooming himself
The boys are approx. 1 year old and spent several months at a local shelter before we decided to take them in so that they get a bit more TLC in a foster home setting. It would be nice if all four boys could find a home together as they get along so well but we can split them up in two pairs: Archie & Beavis and Alvin & Bart as that's how they hang out if they pair up and we think it's important to respect their preferences.
Joey & Cupid
Joey and Cupid are a gorgeous pair of young males. Joey is a beautiful mismarked siamese male. He is fully grown, but he still plays and leaps like a baby, so he is probably quite young. Cupid is the little fawn hooded guy, who was unfortunately neutered at home by his previous owner. Thankfully he has recovered fully and is in perfect health. He kstill has some growing to do.
Joey is the adventurer of the pair. He loves to explore and climb. He is quite well socialized and will wait at the door of the cage for treats and attention. He will also climb right onto your hand and loves shoulder rides. Joey likes to run in his wheel as well! Cupid is a very gentle little guy who loves to snuggle. Probably because of his past, Cupid is a bit shy, but he is getting more and more confident every day.
April 21, 2008, Update from Joey and Cupid's new foster home:
"Our boys are doing just great. Cupid is still quite shy, but very very gentle. No issues with picking him up or holding him. I did put a box in their home which they both love, and when I make noise and open the cage they both come out and check me out, so easy to bring them out. Who ever wants to adopt these boys will love them, I know we do."

Vegas, Baby & Miga
Vegas, Baby & Miga are the cutest little trio of girl ratties.
Vegas and Baby are two black hooded ratties and are approx. 8 months old. They are tiny little adult girls.
Miga is a beautiful little fawn variegated girl and is only approx. 2 months old. Miga is taken care of by the two older girls.
The previous owner loved these girls very much and it shows as they are well taken care of and are well socialized ratties.
Vegas is the most outgoing one of the bunch and often stops by to give you a little kiss before she's off again for the next adventure. The other two girls are a little more reserved but are still very curious and friendly. All three girls can be easily picked up and enjoy a quick cuddle session but being the typical young, active girls they are, they prefer to run around and explore. Hence they are looking for a home where they get a lot of supervised time outside of the cage so that they can exercise their little bodies and minds.
When Miga first arrived in rescue about 4 weeks ago, she had a Myco flare up but thanks to a round of antibiotics and wonderful care she received in her foster home, she's doing fantastic!

Christy & Debbie
These two sisters are about 5 months old. One is beige hooded and the other is mink hooded. Really beautiful, healthy little girls.
The two girls are a little shy but are coming out of their shells more and more. They are in a foster home who handles them a lot which will help. They just need a patient home who will continue to work with them and gives them the time they need to trust you. They are the sisters of Max and Jude.
Max & Jude
These two brothers are about 5 months old. One is beige hooded and the other is mink hooded. Really beautiful, healthy boys.
The two boys are just fantastic rats, very friendly and outgoing. They love spending time with you and would be a great addition to just about any family incl. people who never had rats as pets before.
Maggie & Ellie
Maggie and Ellie are two healthy, young (about 6-8 months old), petite little girls. One is all black, the other is a black berk.
They are friendly and outgoing and are your typical busy girls who love to run around and explore.
Stanley, Otis & Wilber
Stanley, Otis and Wilber are 3 black/white baby boys born February 9, 2008. They are really sweet boys who will make great couch potatoes one day. One is a black berk and the other two are very interestingly marked black hooded rats. They are the brothers of Mitzie and Pixie.
Update from the foster mom: Stanley (berk) is the leader of the pack. He is the first at the cage door, but the other two are right on his heals. They let you kiss them on the mouth and really interested in what people do around them. Wilber is less than thrilled at being picked up. He likes all four feet on the ground and is more that willing to walk out of the cage to explore. Stanley and Otis love any kind of attention. When you walk by the cage someone is hanging off the bars looking for a tickle.
The Rochester Rats
We are currently helping out with a huge rescue going in Rochester, WA where a woman was found living with hundreds of rats because she couldn't keep them contained and they kept on breeding over and over again until situation got completely out of hand.
Here is a news article with video about the situation: Woman found living with hundreds of rats, 4 snakes
Unfortunately an exterminator came in killed most of the rats but there are still lots left living in the house and the walls of the house.
We have several live traps in the house and are trapping some almost daily. One female gave birth to a litter of 10 the day after she was trapped. So far there are 19 adult rats and 10 babies that are safe and sound in rescue looking for homes. Pictures and more info coming soon, right now our main concern is trapping the rats and getting them medical treatment if necessary as the house might soon be condemned at which point nobody would be allowed back into the house. The rats are DOMESTIC RATS!
Update April 29: We haven't trapped any new rats since Thursday. All the rats are now going through a 3 week quarantine to make sure they are healthy and don't have SDA or Sendai virus that could harm other rodents. Once they have been cleared they will be up for adoption. Other females gave birth as well. There are now over 40 rats in rescue waiting for a forever home!

Also keep an eye on our blog, where we will have regular updates.
Update May 18: Most of the rats from this rescue effort have found homes!!! There are still a few babies and their mom, a pair of young girls, as well as two young adult males (Vincent & Pavaratti) who are looking for extra special forever homes!
Salt & Pepper
Two adult male rats that only just came in. Poor guys were kept in a cage way too small for them, were on wrong bedding and wrong diet. We also had to treat them for mites so they don't quite look their best at the moment but with the treatment for mites and proper nutrition they will look fantastic in no time!
Salt is a PEW dumbo and his friend is a beautiful agouti banded boy with standard ears.
Salt is quite curious, Pepper is a bit more shy. But they are both easily handable though and are just lovable guys!
